Since 2010, the WSC has received financial assistance from AIWA, pro-actively contributing in several areas. Many AIWA-SF board members & leaders have visited the shelter, bringing supplies with, visiting with the women and their children & providing hope that brighter days are ahead.
Pragmatically, AIWA-SF has also helped provide professional training to WSC staff. Both Dr. Ruzanna Ohanjanian & Viktoria Ter-Nikoghosyan PhD, have helped train the staff in a train the trainers program.
Additionally, AIWA-SF refers students and volunteers to intern at the WSC. This gives the younger generation experience and insight into how to help make positive impact in Armenia. Maro Matossian, WSC Executive Director shares, “Over the years, AIWA-SF has helped developed awareness around domestic violence in Armenia. Eight years ago we could not discuss this topic in the Diaspora but now through the joint efforts, we have an increased number of supporters and individuals both in Armenia and in the Diaspora who are more and more aware and committed to end violence against women and girls in Armenia.”
