Name: Yerem Yeghiazarians, MD
Yerem Yeghiazarians, MD, is Professor of Medicine and the Leone-Perkins Family Endowed Chair in Cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He serves as Director of the Translational Cardiac Stem Cell Program, Co-Director of the Adult Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Director of the Peripheral Interventional Cardiology Program at UCSF. He is the San Francisco Board Immediate Past-President of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Yeghiazarians received his undergraduate degree in Biology/Biochemistry from Brandeis University (1991) and his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (1995). He trained in internal medicine, general and interventional cardiology at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he also served as chief medical resident prior to joining UCSF in 2003. He has been at UCSF for the past 15 years as a staff cardiologist, teacher/mentor, and scientist. He has a broad background in cardiovascular diseases and clinical/basic research with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters. He is Editor/Co-Editor of two textbooks.
Dr. Yeghiazarians and his research colleagues have developed a proprietary technology, combining robotics and computational machine and deep learning with cell and molecular pathology to detect and develop novel drugs as new therapies against many different diseases. The research mission is to take novel approaches together with breakthrough discoveries that will have real impact on the health and well-being of our patients globally.
Dr. Yeghiazarians is a proud Armenian and over the years, he has been fortunate to work with and train numerous Armenian students who have gone on to have major accomplishments of their own.
