AIWA-SF Thrive: Tina Avanessian

THRIVE is an AIWA-SF April project dedicated to highlighting Armenians who are doing amazing things in their personal and professional lives to better themselves and those around them. These individuals are inspiring, dynamic, innovative and interesting. Today, we feature Tina Avanessian.

Name: Tina Avanessian – Producer @Twitter

I’ve worked in marketing as a Producer across a range of brands for the past 10 years. A majority of my career was spent working in production at Media Arts Lab, Apple’s agency of record, where I produced a number of videos for Apple’s annual product launches. In early 2018, I joined the Content Team at Twitter as their Lead Producer managing video shoots and activations with partners including HBO, Disney, and the NBA. Notable projects include the launch of #NBATwitter is, ‘What’s Happening’ with Chrissy Teigen, and Binge #ForTheThrone ahead of the final season of Game of Thrones. It’s been a whirlwind first year with Twitter, but the absolute highlight was shooting with Armenian queen, Cher, where she went #BehindTheTweets and even gave me an “inch bes es” when I told her I was Armenian.

Question: What is your life philosophy? 

My life philosophy is sleep can wait, because you never know the opportunities that await when you say ‘yes’. 

Question: What’s your favorite thing about being Armenian? 

My favorite thing about being Armenian is the deeper understanding and closeness I feel to other ethnicities as well as my own. You can feel the warmth from people who are immersed in their culture and have had similar upbringings.

Question: How has the Armenian culture shaped you?

Armenian culture has shaped me in every way- from the work ethic I’ve observed and learned to abide by to the generosity I’ve experienced from the community and choose to pay forward. Not to mention the cultural pride that I carry with me into my professional and personal life- a game changer and differentiator in the best way.
