San Jose, CA – On Thursday, May 4th when StarWars posts filled social media feeds, two
AIWA-SF board members demonstrated that the “force is within you”. As an AIWA-SF Board Member and Senior Software Engineering Manager at
IBM, I am also a core member of IBM SVL Super Women’s Group. Once a year I organize an external speaker’s series and invite leaders from the Bay Area to share their career path. This year, AIWA-SF Board Member and VP of Internal Audit, Risk and Controls at
GoPro, Lusine Yeghiazaryan, was invited to speak. An audience of IBM engineers were inspired and reminded that you do in fact shape your own career, the “force is within you”. During her presentation Lusine shared her career path with the audience. Her talk was extraordinary. She demonstrated how you can use your passion along with innovation to chart a successful career path for yourself.

Lusine used Forshay’s model which teaches that the integrated overlap of key components can result in career bliss. These components are: what you love, what you do well, what the world needs, what the world will pay for. She used this methodology to explain her own career path. This resonated deeply with many of the audience members and it is simple enough for anyone to do. Lusine also weaved incredible GoPro videos into her message to tell her story beautifully and memorably! The feedback was overwhelmingly positive! One IBM engineering manager wrote, “Hi Suzanna, That was a scintillating and inspiring talk by Lusine! Thank you for making this possible.”

On a personal note it was a great moment of pride for me. As Lusine shared her story with the audience, I took a moment to pause and feel proud that two Armenian ladies, both working Mom’s, both immigrants and both AIWA-SF board members, coming together to share meaningful stories that are inspiring and empowering. Remember, “The force is WITHIN you, already!”
